Coverless duvet you can put in the washing machine that gives 'the best night's sleep'

Coverless duvets are becoming more and more popular as people wake up to the living nightmare of "changing the bedsheets"

Much like everyone, changing the bedsheets is a task I dread with every fibre of my body, so the thought of a coverless duvet is increasingly appealing. Especially if you can just whack it in the washing machine.

Cue Amazon's Utopia Bedding - a quilt that you only need to put on a gentle cycle with cold water. It can then be sun dried or put in a tumble drier on low. But also... cue Silentnight's coverless 10.5 tog duvet - more on that below.

The bedding is 135cm by 200cm for single (£16.99, 15 per cent sale), 200cm by 200cm for a double bed (£18.69, 15 per cent sale), 230cm by 220cm for King (£24.99, 31 per cent sale), and 220cm by 260cm for Super King (£24.22, 15 per cent sale).

It has a 4.5 tog, so best for hotter temperatures and for hot sleepers, as well as use as a heavy blanket on the couch. The microfiber comforter also helps keep the filling evenly distributed. It also comes in six colours: beige, black, grey, navy, white and black/grey.

Utopia's duvet has received a 4.6 out of 9,727 ratings, 7197 of which are five star. One five star review said: "Best night sleep I’ve had in a while, comfortable, nice material." Meanwhile, another added: "Arrived quickly..took a day to fluff up from its packaging. I've had the best nights sleep ever..so light and soft but a good amount of coziness as well..I was dubious as some of the reviews wernt too good but I'm so happy I trusted my own judgement. A+++ purchase"

However, not everyone was happy, with one person writing: "Pleasant as a fabric, light but warm as for the winter ,how much canvas is not indicated on the package. Despite these different values of matter, everything is the same."

Silentnight have also got into the coverless duvet and pillowcase game. Selling on Argos for £35 for a double or £30 for a single, it's got 4.6 out of five from 23 reviews, with 95 per cent recommending the product.

Boasting a 10.5 tog, this Navy duvet is best for all year use. It can be washed in the washing machine on 40 and the tumble drier can also be used. As well as this, it's hypoallergenic, so extra good for sensitive sleepers.

One five star review said: "Bought the coveless duvet, and am very happy with this. Used it for our campervan and it’s lovely & cosy. Going to order more for home." Another added: "Product is brilliant. No cover to change easy to wash. Lovely and warm. Very pleased with it."

However, one person complained: "I got this more for my pet than myself, unfortunately it's is not pet hair friendly for long hair dogs and they stick to it super easy.and are difficult to remove. Will probably end up getting a cover for it. Other than that it's a nice quality product and good value." Another said: "Bought in Sept 22 then took them back the product was terrible loose Cotton on the ends when removed the corner became frayed. The other duvet the stitching came away & all the middle started to sag."
